Stage & Strings Camp
Stage & Strings Camp is a theater and music focused residential summer camp for boys and girls ages 9-13 years old. Youth will engage their curiosity with classes, performances, and instructional sessions within their chosen track of theater or music. The unique aspect of this camp is the theater and music immersion combined with the full summer camp experience! Youth will enjoy traditional activities like archery, campfires, pool time, and dances to highlight their experience. SWVA 4-H Center is partnering with Barter Theatre's Project REAL to provide classes and programs including: acting, dance, improv, and stage combat. Continuing to build from the 4-H Center's Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) after-school program, youth choosing to focus on music can select from: banjo, fiddle, guitar, and ukulele. Scholarships are available through the "Thomas Estep Fund." Payment plans are also available and full camp tuition payment is due June 1, 2018. Being a 4-H'er is not a requirement to attend this camp.
Scholarships are available for Stage and Strings Camp from the “Thomas Estep Fund” at the 4-H Center. The Thomas Estep Scholarship Fund was founded in memoriam to Thomas Estep and to provide youth in southwest Virginia the opportunity to explore and discover their interest in music, theater, and performing arts at Stage and Strings Camp. Thomas grew up on a seventh generation southwest Virginia farm, where he learned and worked in the fields; operating tractors and harvesting crops. Thomas taught himself to play guitar, which eventually lead to him becoming the lead guitarist for Kaitlyn Baker. His music expressed his sweet nature and passion.
