This summer we will be hosting a Summer Leadership Institute. We are looking forward to having teens participate in our Summer Leadership Institute to gain experience of what it is like to be on Summer Program Staff.

We had a great weekend of learning, building relationships and preparing for Summer Camps. Thanks to all the Teen and Adult workers who came out for the weekend.
The Southwest 4-H Food Challenge Camp was held Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 at the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Abingdon. The program, designed by Interim Program Director Abbigail Moore and a team of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) professionals from across the region, featured opportunities for youth to gain knowledge and skills to be successful in food challenge competitions while exploring healthy eating habits.
In 2022, we served 959 youth over the 8 weeks this summer! That's a 68% increase in participation over last year!
We also distributed MORE scholarship funds this year: $9,454 from a National 4-H Council grant and $7,000 from our scholarship endowments!
