Cancellation Policy

The following policy applies to most programs and workshops (but not facility or venue rentals). If you cancel or leave your registered event early for any reason, we will retain the non-refundable deposit or the following percentage of tuition, whichever is greater:

  • To receive a full refund, program participants may cancel their enrollment at least 21 days in advance of the program start date.

  • Between 21 and 6 days prior to the course start date, the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center will refund 50% (fifty percent) of the course tuition.

  • Less than 5 days prior to the course start date or after the course has begun, there will be no refunds. However, if extenuating circumstances is the cause of cancellation, a refund may be issued pending approved by administration.

We'll notify students on a case by case basis if anything changes with a program for which they've registered. If Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center must cancel this program for unforeseen circumstances, all registrants will receive a full refund.

Facility Policies

  • Than you for not smoking! Starting in 2022, the 4-H Center is a smoke-free campus! Smoking and vaping is also prohibited. A $250 cleaning fee will be assessed for smoking or vaping inside of any building, and guests will be fined $25 per improperly disposed cigarette butts.

  • Service Animals Welcome (no pets allowed): A service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Tasks performed can include, among other things, pulling a wheelchair, retrieving dropped items, alerting a person to a sound, reminding a person to take medication, or pressing an elevator button. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. Other species of animals, whether wild or domestic, trained or untrained, are not considered service animals either. A service animal must be under the control of its handler. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal's safe, effective performance of tasks. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
